‘Skin’ looks at the different wounds and scars, or lack of, among diverse South Africans.
The inspiration for each skin was taken from people that I interviewed,
asking about their emotional response towards Apartheid.
People are scarred in diverse ways.

The stories in this book forced me to think about how I engage or disengage with what is going on around me.
The choice to disengage becomes part of my privilege. Terence Makubalo does not have that choice.
What would it look like if I chose to engage on a daily basis as an active act against oblivion?
